What is Social Engineering?
Social engineering is deliberately interacting with someone; face-to-face or online; with the intention of coercing them to behave in a way that will aid their pursuit of a specific self-interest/goal.
The techniques used by Social Engineers feature in everyday life, you’ll even use some yourself, but the selection and layering of them is deliberate; taking into account a myriad of factors.
These ‘factors’ are hugely important to a social engineer. To most, they would be considered unpredictable, so social engineers use their skills to ensure that they become as predictable as possible.
